The Eleanor Update: 40 weeks

Already into the 40 weeks, and then it will be 50 weeks and then 52 and then I'll have a one year old.  She's almost been out longer then she's been in almost (she was born at 40 weeks 6 days)

Feeding: 

We tried mac n cheese (the good old Kraft blue box stuff).  She loved it and cried when I took it away.

Sleep: 
There were a few good naps this week actually.  One night she was up a lot, but other than that she's getting better.   She's been a morning catnapper but that's because I feed her and hold her, but I think that may be the problem.  If I can put her in her crib (and she might fuss for a minute) but then she'll sleep for a long time.  Or it could just be a fluke (it's happened twice).

This picture cracks me up.  She's running in her sleep.  It's not the first time either. 

Misc: 
I went to a baby wearing group last week.  I want to get a woven wrap, but am hesitant because they are expensive and there are so many choices.  I actually didn't get the chance to try one because there were a lot of people there, but I plan on going back.  I did learn how to back carry in the ergo and I like it other than the fact that it means Eleanor can easily pull my hair.




I went to the zoo again last Monday (I don't know if I'd mentioned that in last weeks post) with my sister in law and niece and nephew.


I also visited the Library one day and we went to the Children's Museum another day.  Busy week!







And she's decided pulling the dvds down is so much fun.  Look at how good she's gotten at standing.  In the picture  with the pink dress she was holding onto the ottoman lid but that was it.

We went to our friends house over the weekend.  Their youngest son is 2 days younger than Eleanor (I've mentioned them before) but it's always fun to get the babies together.

This walk took place before 7 am yesterday.  She had been up for several
hours in the middle of the night and then was up at 6:30.  I was frustrated, but it
wasn't really her fault so I decided to get some fresh air to help my mood.

Weekly Wrap Up 7/12

I haven't done a weekly wrap up in forever but I'm hoping to get in the swing of things and do it more.

I tired to get out of the house with Eleanor more.  I'm lazy and a homebody but she loves to be around other people.  The theme of the week seems to be cheap or free so suggestions on activities are always welcome. 

On Sunday I went shopping BY MYSELF.  I went to 6 stores and was only gone 2 1/2 hours.  With her that would have taken at least another hour because of the constant loading and unloading of the car seat and then probably having to feed her etc...

Monday was Eleanor's 9 month checkup.  She's was 28" and about 19 1/2 lbs.  Still has a big head.  :)  Later that day I met my sister in law, niece and nephew at the zoo (super thankful she has a membership because it was free).  

On Tuesday we did hang around the house, but took a neighborhood walk.

Wednesday we went to the Library and checked out a few board books.  Eleanor played with some blocks and even though it was a short trip it was free.

Thursday I met Rob after work and we went to the local Children's Museum.  Thursdays are cheap night and even though she is still kind of young I think she enjoyed it. 

Friday:  We went to the local chapter of the international baby wearing group.  I'm not a member so I wasn't able to utilize their lending library but I want to join.  I really want to try a woven wrap but they can be expensive and kind of overwhelming.   I did learn how to do a back carry in the ergo so that will be useful. 

Eleanor is napping now but then we are going over to some friends' house for dinner.

So it's been a busier week then normal but it was good to have some new experiences. 

Eleanor's 9 month update

9 months already!  I'm starting to get ideas together for her birthday party.  I can't believe it!

She loves to put her fingers in my mouth and nose when she nurses which is usually every 3-4 hours.

Eating lots of food.  Usually once of twice between 8:30-7:30  Favorites are pasta, watermelon, bell peppers, and puffs.

She's crawling now!  She's also pulling herself up a lot more, which results in some falling back on her head which makes me nervous (head injury).  She usually never cries though.  Tough kid. 

At her 9 month checkup yesterday she was 19 lbs 7 ox, 28" and her head was at 90%.

She is in 9-12 month pants and tops (because otherwise her belly hangs out) and 6-9 month onesies.

She's making  a lot of sounds and can repeat a few back.  She can say "dad/dada" "hi" as well as lots of babbling noises

The Eleanor update: 39 weeks

Feeding:  
One day this week we ate pasta with marina sauce and she loved it!  I was having leftovers the next day for lunch while feeding her a fruit puree but she had no interest in it once she saw what I had. I'm a huge pasta lover so I'm happy she loves it too!



We also tried grapes (cut in half and then quartered) but she didn't love them as much.


Sleep:
Same as always.  Not a daytime sleeper at all.  She has been able to put herself back to sleep a few times though so that makes me happy.







Misc:

Shee had her 9 month checkup today.  19lbs 7 oz, 28" and still 90% head. :) No shots this time!

We went to the zoo on Friday thanks to a free pas (and I actually went again with her today thanks to my sister in laws membership).  She loved seeing other people, and she liked the pelicans and the bears.

4th of July Wrap-up

Here is how our holiday weekend went.

Eleanor started the celebration by waking up at 1 am, nursing and going back to sleep.  And then she woke up again at 4 and would not go back to sleep.  I had to give the monitor to Rob who would up laying on her bedroom floor to try to comfort her and I did sleep for another hour but at 6 I was up again and walked into her room and knew why she was fussing.

She'd had a massive poop blow out.  Like this was out the diaper and through her pajamas.  I could smell it as soon as I walked into the room.  How Rob couldn't smell it I don't know. So I changed her, nursed her again and then she slept another hour.

We had to get up early - which was fine by her because she was up at 7:30 again - to meet my sister, brother in law, nephew, my brother in laws brother (also Rob's boss), his wife and their 2 kids at the zoo.  My mom had given me a free coupon so that was nice.  And we got their fairly early so it wasn't crowded.  We didn't see everything because the boss were lollygagging and we ran out of time before naps were needed. 

After getting home Eleanor took a looong nap.  Like I had to wake her up to go to my sister's in laws house so that my brother in law and Rob could put on their firework show.   But I got there, hung out, ate, and gave Eleanor a bath with my nephew and put her to sleep (after an hour of effort) in the pack in play in the basement bathroom with the sound machine and hoped she'd stay sleeping.   

It was a little stressful because the monitor only worked in a certain part of the yard (thankfully their front yard; where the fireworks were being lit off from). The started the show and she didn't wake up and I thought I'd be good.  And then I was wrong and she woke up crying really hard.  I wasn't about to let her cry because I knew she was in an unfamiliar place and when I was in that bathroom it was still loud with the sound machine and fan so I ran to get her and calm her.  

I was getting sad because I wanted to see their big finale show and feeling horrible because my baby was sad and annoyed that once again Rob got to have fun.  It was stressful for me. 

Somehow she fell back asleep, I laid her back in the pack n play and she stayed asleep so I went back out and was able to see the big show that lasted 6 minutes.  They spent days working on it (buying the fireworks, assembling the tubes/shells and fusing it together).  And I held that monitor to my ear and despite being louder than the last show she didn't wake up.

After it was done, I transferred her to the carseat, got her home, changed her diaper and put her in the crib and she stayed sleeping.

Then the next day we went to Rob's grandparents place where we hung out for the afternoon visiting some family in town.  It's actually the first year we haven't been there on the fourth since we've been together and it's where we got engaged (July 4 2010).

However I am a proud mom and think that Eleanor is so talented.  She can sit and pull her self up to her knees, and she can remember where I hid toys at so that must mean she deserves HER own show.
