Mallory 11 Months

Late as usual

Still in the size 3 disposable diapers.  I have so many of them so hopefully she stays in them for a while.  I think it's time to go down a rise on cloth diapers.

Mallory is wearing 6-9 month onesies, 9 month pants, and heading into 9 month jammies although some are still big

She got tooth 5 at eleven months exactly. 

This month she started clapping (which is legit the cutest thing ever), pulling up on all the things, pulling down all the thing, & getting into all the things.

Not sure about new foods, I'm terrible at keeping track.

She will usually take a good hour and a half to two hour nap around 10/11am.  Nights are rough, and she still doesn't sleep more than 3-4 hours at a time.  She often winds up in bed with me.

She is slowly getting better with her clinginess, but  it's still very much there.  Some days I can't even shower without her screaming outside the door.

Baby Banana Brush Review & Giveaway

Like any other child teething comes and goes.  I almost always tend to blame her fussiness on teething and lately she's ramped it up, had spurts of drooliness, and chewing on things she normally wouldn't. 

So when the opportunity to check out the banana brush presented itself I hoped it would be a good fit.  The brush says its for babies up to 12 months, but Eleanor is close to the mark and with the teething symptoms I had to try it. 

The brush was invented by a mom who is also a hygienist.  It is made of silicone and helps to soothe sore gums.  The handles are easy to hold on to and it's dishwasher safe (which I think all kid products should be) and is safe for the freezer - which I haven't tried yet. 

It arrived, I opened it up and washed it, and handed it to her.   Or tried to, she didn't take it.  So I showed her what it was supposed to do, and handed it back to her.  She chewed it for a moment and then dropped it and wandered off.   

She didn't care to much for it.  It's not a product issue, but more so that she just wasn't interested. I guess she really was to old for it.    Thus the reason for the blurry pictures.  I had to try to be fast and failed. 

 I do plan to just keep it in her toy bin and I'm sure she will find it and love it periodically.

41 Weeks

It's official.  She's been out longer than in (born at 40 weeks 6 days).  Eek!

Sleep: 

It was pretty rough this week.  I don't think she went to bed before 10 (except for when she was sick- see below) and she was up by 6:30 most days.  Add that to the middle of the night waking and I.am.exhausted.

Feeding:

Our local fair was last weekend.  Eleanor had her first taste of an elephant ear.  Although she got mostly the dough and not the sugary goodness she still liked it.

We had barbecue chicken on night.  I tried to feed her pureed chicken that night (bleh) and she was not having any of it.  I gave her some of the chicken we were eating and she gobbled it up.

Although it wasn't the first time she had pasta again and loved it!

Last night I made Edamame (soybeans).  I assumed it would be like pea pods and it wasn't.  You can't eat the pods so it was a little more work than I thought it would be but once they were shelled and I put a little sea salt then they weren't bad and Eleanor seemed to like them. 

Misc:  

She had her first fever this weekend.  Nine months is pretty good but it was so sad. I'm pretty sure it's teething related.  Aaturday night it was 99, then Sunday night it was 102.6.  This morning I'm pretty sure I felt the little sharp poke of a tooth on top but she wouldn't really let me check so I'm not totally sure. 

On Saturday I took her to her first parade.  We didn't stay long because it was loud (although the noise didn't bug her) and the sun was hot but she enjoyed it. 

My mom and sister and nephew were camping this week so I took Eleanor out for the day on Wednesday.  She got to see the 'Big Lake' aka Lake Michigan and had her first beach experience.  Despite the super cold water she still liked it. 

The Eleanor Update: 35 weeks

Feeding:

We tried cherrios and she liked those, but most wound up in the high chair. Same with the breadstick:  pieces I was feeding her at Olive Garden (not the healthiest choice; mom fail).  She also tried a few bites of the egg in my omelet and she kept wanting more.  I gave her a strawberry and I think she would have liked it more had it been easier for her to hold onto.

We went to a wedding reception and left her with Rob's mom (only our second date in 8 months) and she went almost 5 hours without eating more than a small amount of yogurt.  She was just holding out I guess.



Misc:
She's started to discover her 'diaper area' during diaper changes.  I know that it's normal, but I still try to redirect sometimes.

She had just learned how to sit up on her own in last weeks post, but now she's doing it a lot.  Still startles me when I see it.



Last week I noticed her two front teeth coming through her gums and today I felt the teeny top sharp top of one poking through.  I couldn't get a picture of it though.

Sleep:
When she wakes in the middle of the night it's a lot harder to get her back to sleep.

She has been better at naps though.  I can usually get one good (hour plus nap) a day and a few catnaps.

She has a new obsession with plastic bags and wants to play with them (she doesn't get to obviously)

I heard an unusually cry from her when I was in the bathroom and came out to find her stuck under this toy.

The Eleanor Update: 34 weeks

Feeding:  
The latch issues got a little better.  There are still nursing sessions everyday that are painful but it's not every one at least.

I don't think we tried any new foods this week.

Sleep:
Naps are getting a little better.  When she naps in her crib she will get closer to an hour most times.  It's getting her to sleep that's a problem.  Yesterday she was up from around 7am -1:30 (with a 20 minute nap in there) and then she slept for THREE hours.  Unheard of.  But she had been up several times the night before wide awake.

Then last night she went to bed around 9 pm, slept for an hour and was up at 10 pm and didn't go back to sleep until 1:45 pm.  I was about to lose my mind-or get in the car and drive to get her to sleep.  It was horrible.  She would fall asleep nursing, I'd put her in the crib and she would scream.  So I'd put her in bed with me and then she would want to play.  So annoying!  So you would think that she would sleep in at least right?  Nope up at 6:30.  She fell back asleep finally at 11:30 and is sleeping right now (it's 1:30).  But I have to get her up to feed her in a few minutes because we have to go to work.

Misc:
I noticed yesterday that she is starting to get teeth.  They are still below the gum line but I noticed little bumps there.

Also yesterday she sat up on her own for the first time.  I was sorting clothes and she was playing by me and then I looked over and she was sitting up.  She's been close and I even said to Rob the other day that she would have it down in the next week and she did.  I'm a little sad that she's growing up but I was proud of her. And judging by the picture I took I think she was too!
