2015 Wrap Up

The first half of 2015 stunk. Rob was sick, had two surgeries and was out of work.  About the midway point through things turned around.  Rob was feeling better, surgeries were done AND we found out we were going to have another baby!  So things were looking up, I turned 30, we took a mini-vacation and were able to get back to 'normal'

I can't remember exactly what happened but here is the gist of 2015

January

• Rob was sick, and just started to head back to work part time toward the end of the month.
• I started working again

February

• Um, probably just working this month and going about daily life

March

• Rob had surgery number 2.  Recovery was smoother this time around.

April

• We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary

May

• Rob turned 31 
• A few days later he had his final surgery.  I was blown away at how quickly he was recovering (still a process, but he was home in just days this time)
• Found out about baby number 2!!!

June

• Party to celebrate Rob feeling better \

July

• Eleanor's first baseball game

August

September

• I got my wisdom teeth out (it was pouring when I left the office-thus my appearance looking even worse)
• Eleanor's first trip to my parents cabin
• Rob had a trip to the ER.  First one since his surgery, but he wasn't admitted and we were heading back home a few hours later
• Anatomy scan for the baby.  We stayed team green and are waiting until birth to find out the sex
• 
• My 30th birthday (and my dad's 60th -same day!)
• Took a mini vacation to Shipshewana for my birthday

October

• Eleanor turned 2
• Last Halloween Rob spent in the hospital and for much for the whole holiday season that followed so just having him home and around was really nice.

Monday Quiz About Me 9/30

1. It's Customer Service week - do you think customer service is getting better or worse now than it was five years ago?

I think it's worse because a lot of companies use those automated voice prompt systems.  Half the time they don't get what you are saying, even if you say it slowly and clearly.  Big companies don't seem to care because you are just a number to them.

At&t is the worst.  I've yet to hear a positive thing about them.

Health insurance companies I've found are pretty good with prompt answering (with a real person), and being friendly.  Blue Care is always friendly and quick and Aetna never gave me issues either. 

2. October 1st is also World Vegetarian Day - have you ever spent time as a Vegetarian?  Do you have regular meatless meals?

I've never officially been a vegetarian, but I'm not a big meat eater so 2/3 of the meals I make don't involve meat.  I could eat pasta every day though.  I love carbs!

3. What reality show would you like to be a part of?

I don't really have a lot of skills or talents so shows that involve dancing or singing would be out.   I'm also not athletic so that counts that out as well.   I would like to be on a game show that involves answering trivia questions.  I love trivia.  Does that count?

4. Are you planning to watch the Baseball post-season?  Who will win the World Series?

I would probably if we got more than one channel.  I don't know who is in the finals, so I don't know who will win.  Being from Michigan I guess I should cheer on the Tigers, but I also grew up with a dad who was a big Cubs fan. I'd celebrate if either of those teams won.  

Weekly wrap up

1) I've been bugging nicely asking Rob for months to take me to a Whitecaps baseball game.  Every time he makes excuses, so I finally gave up on asking him to go with me and tried to find someone else.  Then on Sunday, 15 minutes before the game is to start he decided he wants to go.  I was kind of stressing because I didn't want to miss any of the game and I knew we would.  Luckily we only live 15 minutes away so by the time we got there it was still the top of the 2nd inning.

And because we showed up later we wound up getting to park in the very front (like 10 rows from the front), and we got first row bleacher seats (which were buy one get one for that day with a coupon).  The only downside was that it was really really hot.  Like 90* hot.  We had to get up a few times and stand under the shade.

But they won, and I only wound up with a small patch of bright red sunburn (I did put some one; just missed a few spots).

2) I had most of this week off of work.  I only had to work Thursday.  I was going to be super productive, but I wasn't.  Oops. 

3) My oldest niece turned 8 this week.  No idea how that happened.  This picture is from the day she was born (also I look skinny and super young in it)


4) It has been so hot this week so I've been trying to use the crock pot more.  I made baked potatoes in crockpot.  I'd done it before but couldn't remember how they turned out.  Apparently not so well. I added a little bit of water  this time which might have been why they turned out better.

5) Speaking of hot, here is an example of how hot it was.  At almost 9 at night it was still 85* with a heat index of 89.  This was pretty typical for the whole week.  I still prefer it to winter though.
