17 Week Update ~Mallory~

I totally forgot to finish this post yesterday.  I forgot to take her picture until after she had fallen asleep.  Ooops!  I thought about it earlier in the day and then got distracted and didn't remember.

Breastfeeding:
Lately she's been fidgeting while nursing, likely because she's getting distracted, and she'll pull back while still latched on and that's a little

Sleep:
Monday she rocked the naps, but Tuesday she did not so maybe she was just super tired from the weekend.

Tuesday she was up at 5:45.  I hadn't gone to bed until after midnight the night before (thank you Eleanor) and seriously struggled.  My awesome mom came over on her work break and I napped for a half an hour or so.  Not much but enough to give me a little boost.

Wednesday she slept in until like 7:30, every other day she's been up around 6:30.

Misc. 
She rolled over from back to belly a few times.  It took a few days and a few times before I saw her do it, but she did it.  (Eleanor was about six months before she did back to belly; although she went belly to back at 3 months)

The shrieking!  Girl gets mad she can't roll, or grab a toy and yells.

But she also 'talks' and coos.  I'm pretty sure she's said 'hi' a few times back to me. lol.

When she wakes up she is all smiles and it's so precious.

12 week update ~Mallory~

Sleep

She's usually sleeping close to a 6 hour stretch her first stretch on the night.  Then it might be another 3 hours before she's waking up again.  It still takes her a while to settle down at night, although lately she's 'usually' asleep between 9:30/10.  That's better than the 11/11:30 it was before.

Breastfeeding. 

Going pretty well although she's definitely shortened her feed times, and they were already short.  I'm not feeling uncomfortable though so I don't worry about it. She has had a couple times where she's been latched on for a good 30 minutes but as far as actively sucking that only lasted a maybe ten minutes.  

I nursed her in the backyard yesterday.  Eleanor didn't want to come in and she was hungry so I did what I had to do.  We do have three neighbors but one side has some bushes on it, and while not a huge yard, and someone probably could see what I was doing they would have to be at the fence to even really see any breast so I didn't care to much.  I know some people are gung ho about nursing uncovered in public.  I don't care if someone does it.  Doesn't phase me.  BUT I'm not super comfortable nursing uncovered.  I have a larger chest and find it harder to not show breast, and I don't like covers because it's harder to latch her and she bats at it anyway.  So while I have nursed uncovered (at baby wearing group, and obviously breastfeeding group), it's not something I like to do.  So yesterday was a first. 

Misc.

I don't know if I mentioned it last week, but she loves sucking on her hands.  It drives me nuts because I hate that sound, but it's her comfort thing.  It could be a hunger thing at times, but sometimes it's just comfort.  She won't take a pacifier so if that helps her I'll go with it.

She poops like once a week; not that I'm worried because Eleanor was the same way.  

She's been super smiley this week and I love it. Like melt my heart love it.

She had a few rough days when I was gone to church (Rob was sick so I kept her home with him) and when I went to the store.  She hates bottles and it stresses me out.  Today is our anniversary and we are going out and I'm nervous about it. 

8 weeks ~ Mallory

Sleep:

She's been going longer stretches at night. She has went a few 3-4 hours stretches at night and Thursday took a 3 1/2 hour nap.

I tried a few times to put her in her crib at nap time.  But she was asleep when I put her down and she woke up right away and wasn't having it.

I also think she prefers sleeping on her stomach. I sometimes let her sleep on the nursing pillow.  I know that's a no no but I am always nearby and constantly checking on her.

Breastfeeding:

Still going well although I still only like to nurse in the football hold. I've had to do cross cradle a few times because it's hard to do football in public.  This is strange but I feel like her diapers are more watery when I do cross cradle.  

Misc: 
Today she gave me real smiles.  Like on purpose smiles.  She's been randomly smiling the last week and a half or so but this was the first time I got a real one.  I melted.



Evenings have still been tough, but at least it hasn't been every single evening this week.

I was trying to nap with her the other day and Eleanor was in her room singing and I am convinced Mallory knew it was her because I looked over when I heard Eleanor on the monitor and Mallory was smiling.   Super sweet!

7 week update ~ Mallory

Miscellaneous 

I thought the spitting up was getting better because it had been a week and a half, but nope.  She spit up yesterday and it soaked her clothes, my pants, my shirt, the play mat.  She even got some in her ear.  

Still super fussy in the evenings.  I feel like I can't do anything between 6-9 pm because I can't put her down of pass her off.

I did vacuum last night and turned the vacuum on like 2 feet from her.  She didn't even flinch.  But if I drop a toilet paper tube from ten feet away she will flail her arms out and be startled.  I don't get it. lol.

She's started smiling this week.  Randomly at not intentional but when I look at her and see her little grin while she's looking at the lights or the couch it's precious.

Breastfeeding

She's been nursing closer to every 2 1/2 hours this last week.

I pumped yesterday afternoon so Rob could try to give her a room temperature bottle as opposed to one I chilled in the fridge and then heated back up.  It didn't make a difference.  I've tried 3 different kinds and she won't take any of them.  

Sleep

She usually does okay intil about 5 am.  That's the hardest feed to get her back down after.  It takes an hour and a half more often than not.  And by the time I finally get her down, and then myself back to bed, I get maybe 30 minutes before Eleanor wakes up.
