Girls Crochet Headbands Review and Giveaway

It's no secret that I LOVE headbands for Eleanor (and yes that totally deserved caps!).  So when I was given the opportunity to review some from Girls Crochet Headbands I was excited.  I didn't know what they would look like until they arrived so it was fun anticipating the arrival. 

She has a lot of pink in her closet so finding something to pair with the pink bands was not really difficult.  She wore the cherry blossom to church with a pink and orange dress (seen below).  The black and pink shabby chic flower I paired with a pink top/skirt to accent the pink in the headband.

I'm really not that awesome at styling clothes/accessories though so coming up with something for the blue bands is harder.  I really do love that blue bow and have never seen anything like it.

Some of the headbands were a little snug on her.  I know they should not really be loose though and it's basically because my sweet child has a huge head.

The headbands are well made.  None of the embellishments came loose, and I always try to tug them loose before putting them on Eleanor just to be safe.

Girls n Bows Review & Shop Credit Giveaway.

Fourth of July is kind of a big deal in the Urban household.  4 years ago - on July 4 2010 - Rob and I got engaged.   It's always been Rob's favorite holiday and so I knew that Eleanor was going to need something special for it.

So I found this shop on instagram and came across this headband and knew it was what she needed.  It's big (bigger the better) and has different layers and textures which I really liked.

I contacted the shop owner about a review and was happy she agreed.  (She's also a fellow Michigander!)

Patty is a grandma who started out making bows for her grandaughter's and loved it enough that she started making them for others.  That led to her selling them at a local craft store, consignment shops, and wholesale to local boutiques.   

She's now making the headbands as well as bow ties, bracelets, and barefoot sandals and is starting to do more sewing thanks to her new sewing machine. 

Patty has always loved crafting and has done cross stitch and made t-shirts as well as floral arrangements, wreaths, wedding flowers and hair pieces thanks to her background as a floral  designer.

I got really excited when I came home from a walk and saw that the package had been delivered.  I was so excited to get into it that I kind of destroyed the box in the process because it was sealed up so well.  Once I got it open I let Eleanor 'open' it the rest of the way.  She was loving the tissue paper so much that she didn't really care about the bow.

 She doesn't really coordinate, but I had to put it on her as soon as I got it!

The headband is a little big on Eleanor.  It still fits, just is a little loose.  This isn't a bad thing, because it can be used  for a long time.  Another thing that I really liked about it was that it wasn't heavy.  It has several different layers of lace and ribbon but is still lightweight.

As well as being lightweight it's strong.  I wanted to test it so I picked it up and once Eleanor saw me with it she wanted it - of course - and then set it down and let her play with it.  Nothing came loose.  

She also felt bad about a slight delay- which wasn't a issue to me at all - and sent a bottlecap bracelet well, which was very sweet of her.  I have a niece who is having a birthday next month and I think she would love this, although her birthday is after the 4th of July so I might just give it to her early.  This bracelet fits me, which is impressive because I can't wear them normally because I have such small wrists that they fall halfway down my arms.

Rob wasn't around when I opened it, but when I showed him the pictures, I kept going "and look at this"  "and how cute is this?"  and he clearly knew how excited I was.  He agreed that the packaging was awesome. I realize not everyone might care about the packaging and just want what is inside - and I was excited about the outfit - but I love love love the attention and detail she put into making it look pretty.  First impression win!

I loved this dress and loved how precious she looked.  She wore it to church the day after getting it and got so many compliments and questions about where I got it.  I love that it is unique and no one else is going to have the same outfit as her. 

One of the tests I do to make sure something is well made is to give it to Eleanor and then try to take it back because if she wants it she will hold onto it death grip style.  Nothing budged on the headband.

I was kind of nervous to wash the dress because I didn't want to bow to come undone because I knew I won't be able to make it look so pretty.  I washed it on gentle with no issues; the dress is still beautiful.  Nothing frayed and I did manage to make the bow still look good. :)  I'm thinking she might be wearing this again on Saturday to Rob's birthday dinner with family (it might be his 30th-but she's going to steal the show!)

This dress is amazing, and I'm thinking ahead, but Eleanor might need a special 1st birthday dress for herself and I would love to be able to get her another one from BellasBitsNBaubles!

Tiny Elephant Bowtique Review Plus Giveaway

Before getting pregnant I used to think that big headbands were silly and then I found out I was pregnant and having a girl and suddenly I wanted all the things!

I wanted headbands and pink and everything girly and often find myself browsing for them online.

During one such browsing session I found one and I knew it would go perfect with a dress Eleanor had.  And then I went to the shop page and found many many more I wanted.  Like almost every single one wanted.  :)  And once I can convince Rob that Eleanor needs these I will be getting her more.

When Ashley, the mom behind Tiny Elephant Bowtique agreed to a review I was excited.

Ashley is the mom to a little girl named Addison who is just a few months older than Eleanor.  She started Tiny Elephant Bowtiques because she also loves headbands and all things girly for her daughter who rarely is without a headband.  Ashley is a second grade teacher who makes the headbands in her free time (although I'm sure that's limited).

This headband was made very well.  I know this because I handed it to Eleanor and then tried to grab it back.  When she wants something she has the death grip on it and it becomes a game of tug of war.   Nothing came loose.  This is good because I would have worried about the center gem coming loose and her trying to eat it (I don't let her wear it in the car for this reason though).   The pink flower is made from chiffon which is more of a delicate fabric but held up fine.

Another thing I loved about this headband is that it didn't leave marks on her head when I took it off.  Sometimes this is a problem because Eleanor has a big head (95% at her 6 month appointment!).  The headband had plenty of stretch to it meaning it will fit her for a while.

Eleanor looks absolutely adorable in this headband!  Even Rob thought it was cute.  Actually he said it looked liked candy (the big swirly lollipop kind) but I think that means he liked it.
