I feel like I'm bored with life.  Sure I went skydiving, but I need something else.  I need to volunteer, go learn something new (I totally would have taken fencing lessons with a recent groupon, but it was for kids lessons only).
I'm afraid of something happening to me, and I don't usually like to take chances.  I was scrolling through old pins today on and came across this.
I'm going to make this my motto in life, at least at the moment.

I was never a writer, never thought I was good enough to be.  For now that's okay.  This blog is still private from people I know, and I may  will publish it someday when I feel ready.  Someday though I think I'd love to make blogging my living.  When we have kids it would be perfect to do part time.  Some bloggers do it for the love of it, but I want to make a living from it.  Even if it's just a few hundred dollars a month, I'd like to contribute to my family, while being home with them.

Getting Pregnant

Is really not as easy as you would think.  I mean in school I learned you have sex, you can get pregnant.  It wasn't until I took a Teaching Sexual Education class in COLLEGE that I learned opposite, and in the time leading up to us ttc (trying to conceive), I've learned even more.

  • There is only a very small (2-3 days, 4 max) that you can get pregnant every month.
  • Even if you time sex perfectly that is no guarantee of getting pregnant.  You only have a 20% chance each month.
Honestly, it's only Cycle 2, and I'm already disappointed. I knew the chances of it happening right away were slim, but I still hoped we would get lucky.  I've charted my temps, I've used opk's, I checked cm (sorry, tmi), which I had very little of last cycle and none this, (despite drinking a lot of water which is supposed to help).   I've done what I can to increase my chances, and I should take comfort in that, but I was still sad when I got my period.  Thankfully because of charting I saw the temp drop and knew to anticipate it,  as opposed to being blindsided by it.

I still cried though.  Rob didn't understand and thought I was being dumb. That was annoying because I wanted his support, but it's just not the same for guys.

Friday Five: 8-24-12

Some of these are repeats or updates to last week.  I'm that boring apparently.

1) I went skydiving last Saturday, as I mentioned in the last Friday Five.  It was awesome, and once I get pictures I will post them.  I wasn't scared or nervous, although I may have screamed when I left the plane. It was really cold up there (12,000 feet) and I felt sick from the force (although it didn't feel like falling).

2) I am down to one week left at my current job.  I have had this job for over 5 years and I can't believe the end is really here.  I'm starting to get really sad.  I am making a photo book for them, but procrastinated and haven't finished it yet.  At least it gives me a chance/reason to go back and visit.

3) I have a new job lined up, I've had it since last fall, and I am really excited about it, but I'm going to make less money and I'm really stressed about it. I also mentioned this last week  This week in the mail we got a check for $900 because the house (which dh bought when we were dating) was not listed as his primary residence so he was paying extra taxes on it even though it was his primary residence.  Hopefully that money can go into our HSA.

4) I started a new project today.  My parents bought a console like table at a garage sale for under $5 and gave it to me.  I bought some stain and am redoing it.  It looks better already, but it had some scratches in it that I can't cover up.  Maybe another coat of stain will help.  Then I'm going to change the knobs in the drawers and put it by our garage entrance.

5) Number 5 is a biggie.  My sister called me this morning to tell me that she is pregnant.  I'm so excited for them, but I'm a little jealous and I know that I'm being dumb about it.  She is younger, got engaged first, married first, and is now having a baby first.  We are trying (but no one, other than my online friends know), and even though it's only cycle two, I'm frustrated (which is also really dumb) that she is pregnant and I'm not.  I know it's not a big deal at the moment and some people try for way longer with no success.   I actually cried a little about it.  I would never ever tell her this, but I wish Rob would have cared a little more when I told him.

Friday Five: 8-17-2012

I got this idea from another blog.  I'll try to list 5 things every Friday going on with me.

1) I'm going skydiving tomorrow with my sister.  We both have birthday's next month and wanted to do something fun.  I found a groupon that gave an awesome deal.  We have to drive 2 1/2 hours, but we saved hundreds of dollars.

2) I have 2 weeks left of the job I've had for 5+ years.  I'm getting really sad now that the end is sooooo close.

3) I have a new job, but I'm going to be making less and I'm really starting to stress out about it (the skydiving money came out of my vacation fund).  I have never felt stressed about money until now.

4) I've been part of a gym (paid by my employers) for over a year and I love it, but I'm no longer working there so they are going to be canceling it.

5) I love to enter contests and be on the internet.  Some people like to watch tv; I like to be on the computer.  I've one probably $1,200 worth of things this summer.  Most of them have been small, but some of them will be good Christmas gifts.

Into to us

I'm Kelly (26 almost 27), married to Rob (28).  We live in a small town near Grand Rapids, MI, where we both grew up.  We graduated high school together (2003), but didn't hang out until 4 years later when we were out with friend at the Margarita Grill for country night (summer 2007).  Rob came up to me, and we started talking and a month or so later we went on our first date.  July 4 2010 we got engaged, April 15 2011 we got married.

We have no kids yet, but hope to soon.

I work as a nanny, and love to read, exercise, and enter contests online! Rob is a mechanic and hunts, fishes and enjoys watching tv.
